Ultrasound Baby Scan Clinic: ask these questions to your USG technician

Ultrasound is an important and predetermined part of your pregnancy experience. Pregnancy is beautiful, but wait, isn’t it one of the most difficult phases of a woman’s life?

Sure, it is, but you’ll forget about everything once you hold your precious little honeybunch in your bosoms.

However, personally, I feel, the best part of pregnancy is visiting the ultrasound baby scan clinic to meet your unborn darling. A USG not only determines your baby’s growth and development, but also checks for congenital abnormalities beforehand, so that you can take actions accordingly.

Sadly, nowadays, many expected parents instead of asking crucial questions about their unborn baby’s health, explode the mind of USG techs with silly questions completely based on their aesthetic entertainment.

If you’re one of them, please understand that a baby scan is done to diagnose the unborn child and not to entertain others. So, please don’t bicker over ultrasound images by saying the baby does not look good (yeah, some people do and louder for the people at the back).

So, don’t forget to ask these following relevant questions to your sonographer!

Q. What are my baby’s measurements?
Here, you will have to ask the technician about your baby’s fetal biometry which includes:
  • BPD (Biparietal diameter) which is the baby’s head size
  • HC (Head circumference)
  • CRL (Crown Rump Length) which is the length of your baby’s head to the bottom
  • AC (Abdominal Circumference)
  • FL (Femur Length) meaning the length of your baby’s leg bone.

Q. Are my baby’s vital organs functioning normally?
Don’t skip this important question. Confirm that your baby’s vital organs (heart, brain, kidneys, lungs, etc) are developing accordingly and are in perfect position. Also, ask if the sonographer was able to detect any congenital heart defects.

Q. Do you see any cleft lip or cleft palate?
Cleft lip and cleft palate are better detected through 3D and 4D ultrasound scans. Many baby scan clinics in Peterborough provide 4D ultrasound scans so you can get this report on cleft lip from them.

Q. Is my baby’s spine okay?
Your baby’s backbone is equally important like his or her other vital organs. Spinal Bifida is a common abnormal spine condition found in unborns.

Q. Is my placenta perfectly alright?
You need to ask this question to get an answer on whether you have placenta previa or not. Placenta previa can cause severe bleeding during pregnancy and labour, so please make sure that you get yourself properly diagnosed.

Go to a well-reputed and certified ultrasound baby scan clinic in Peterborough. Also, check if the clinic provides any baby scan offers for the patient’s convenience.
